Registry descriptive percentages must be read as complete-case proportions; derived figures must not be computed by multiplying two of them together. This is the fourth level of Chapter 30's measurement pyramid.

Descriptive report of programme characteristics, processes of ECMO care, adjunctive therapies, support modes, treatments, complications and survival
Voluntary reporting by fee-paying member centres. Descriptive statistics are complete-case, so every reported percentage carries its own unstated denominator and denominators differ between variables in the same table. Abstract only.
Median annual adult ECMO runs per centre rose from 4 to 15 while paediatric and neonatal runs per centre fell from 12 to 7. Over 50 percent of patients were transferred to the reporting centre, and 20 percent of those were transported on ECMO. Prone positioning before respiratory ECMO in adults rose from 15 percent (2019) to 44 percent (2021). CRITICAL METHODS LINE for Chapter 30: 'Missing values were excluded before calculating descriptive statistics.'
Neonates (0-28 days), children (29 days to 17 years) and adults (18 years and over) supported with ECMO from 2009 through 2022 and reported to the ELSO Registry. 154,568 ECMO runs; 780 centres submitted over the period, 557 in 2022.
