Seizures in 3% (346). Of these, 204 (59%) were detected clinically, 193 (56%) electrographically and only 51 (15%) by both. Annual cases rose from 442 to 1,123 while reported seizure incidence FELL from 5% to 3% (P = 0.02). Mortality 77% against 69%, with earlier death (7.3 against 10.8 days). Acute brain injury adjusted odds ratio 2.65, moderate hyperoxia 1.60, arrhythmia 1.44, change in arterial carbon dioxide 1.12. Seizures were associated with 90-day mortality, adjusted odds ratio 2.32.
